beasts

it's been approximately two months, five days, and five hours since i've posted anything. i fear i may becoming more and more insane, but that's only due to the environment around me. this week i'd been working on a mythology project for approximately four hours a night, and after a while i did manage to did up some things that were actually interesting. i wrote entire papers on vampires and got to interview them. i drew detailed pictures of some of the most ugly things ever imagined to man. and then i came across lamia, a beautiful creature with snakeskin below the waist that ate children and killed her lovers for their blood. despite her disturbing nature, she's somewhat of a role model to me. she's independent. she's insane. she's seductive enough to get young men and feed on them. lamia even has the ability to remove her eyes for the purpose of prophecy. in the ninth century, christian writers frequently warned against her powers and stated she was a supernatural danger that threatened marriage. though she's not really a prominent figure in mythology, she sure as hell is an interesting one. she's a brilliant, beautiful beast.
